Preseason Poll Results
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (Aug. 24, 2016) - The Molloy Lions volleyball team was picked to finish sixth out of eight in the East Coast Conference, earning 28 points in the Preseason poll released Wednesday (Aug. 24).
The maroon and white come into 2016 as a young squad, adding eight freshmen to compliment the six returning members. The Lions will begin the 2016 campaign by hosting the Long Island Invitational on Labor Day weekend, with will feature matches against Southern Connecticut State, Chestnut Hill, Le Moyne, and Post.
2015 ECC Championship contenders NYIT and Bridgeport both received four first-place votes, but the Bears were ultimately placed first, earning 60 points. NYIT's Karolina Moderova (Zalesie, Slovakia) was also chosen as Preseason Player of the Year. LIU Post and Daemen round out the top four, picked third and fourth respectively. Queens was chosen just above Molloy in the fifth spot, while Mercy and Roberts Wesleyan complete the ledger.
The Lions begin their season at home on Friday, Sept. 2 against Southern Connecticut State at 3 p.m.
