Karen Borrosso-Bowden, a Farmingdale resident and a graduate of Farmingdale High School, started at Molloy College in 1986. Karen was a major part of the softball program at Molloy as she played for three years and remains one of Molloy’s all-time great hitters and pitchers. Karen graduated in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
Upon graduation, Karen moved to Florida where she worked as a first grade teacher. She continued to play softball in a league for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. In 2002, Karen returned to Long Island. She began teaching at Western Suffolk BOCES in a Family Literacy Program. She completed her master’s degree in Special Education in 1996 and received a School District Administrator Certificate in 2002. For five years, she was the Program Manager for an out-of-school youth program. Currently, she is the Assistant Principal for Career and Technical Education of Western Suffolk BOCES.
Karen’s athletic achievements include the following Molloy College career and season records: second in career triples (21), fifth in career home runs (8), seventh in career RBI (80), second in triples (10 in 1990), third and sixth in slugging percentage (.924 in 1990 and .800 in 1988) and eighth and tenth in batting average (.481 in 1989 and .475 in 1990).
Currently, Karen resides in Medford, N.Y. with her husband, Patrick, and their daughter, Kathleen.
