DE LA TORRE FEATURED BY NCAA FOR DUNKIN’ DONUTS ARTWORK
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Molloy College junior and men’s soccer player Tyler De La Torre has distinguished himself as a student-athlete that truly embodies the core values of NCAA Division II. The Digital Art major was recently chosen as a finalist for the Dunkin’ Donuts “Donut Art” contest following an art class assignment last semester, proving that he can achieve success on the playing field as well as in the classroom.

ALBERDA GARNERS ALL-ECC SECOND-TEAM RECOGNITION
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – The East Coast Conference announced its men’s soccer all-conference teams on Friday, and Molloy College senior forward John Alberda was named to the second-team, as voted upon by the league’s coaches. This marks the second time in as many years that Alberda has notched All-ECC second-team laurels.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – In an unusual away match on its home turf, the Molloy College men’s soccer team lost by a result of 2-0 to ninth-ranked C.W. Post on Sunday in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The contest, originally slated for Oct. 29 on the Long Island University - C.W. Post Campus, had the home location altered to the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in due part to Saturday's heavy weather conditions that left the Pioneers’ home field unplayable.

MOLLOY SOCCER ALUMNUS TO REPRESENT USA AT AMF FUTSAL TOURNAMENT

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Three different Lions struck the rear of the net on Sunday afternoon to lift the Molloy College men's soccer team to its first East Coast Conference win of the year, a 3-0 decision against Mercy College at Mavericks Field in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. As a result, the Lions improved to 2-13-1 overall, and 1-4-1 in the league.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – A goal apiece from East Stroudsburg University junior midfielder Derek Lopez and forward Kevin Lombardo was enough to best the Molloy College men’s soccer team, 2-0, in a non-conference battle on Friday in East Stroudsburg, Pa. With the win, the Warriors move their unbeaten streak to seven games in a row, and improve to a record of 5-6-4 overall, while the Lions slide to 1-13-1 in 2011.

LAST-MINUTE GOAL DOOMS MEN'S SOCCER AGAINST STAC, 3-2
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - On Saturday, a last-minute rally from St. Thomas Aquinas College stifled the Molloy College men’s soccer squad by a final score of 3-2 in an East Coast Conference game at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Senior midfielder Remington Lee registered the game-tying and go-ahead tallies in the last seven minutes of play to steal the win from the Lions. As a result, Molloy slipped to 1-12-1 and a record of 0-4-1 against league nemeses. As for the Spartans, they improved to 8-1-4 overall and 2-1-2 in the ECC.

As for the Purple Knights, they improved to 6-5 overall, and 2-2 versus league opposition.

Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. As a result, the Lions slipped to an overall clip of 0-10-1 on the season. Meanwhile, New Haven improved to 1-7-2 in 2011.

QUEENS SLAYS MEN’S SOCCER IN DOUBLE OVERTIME, 1-0
FLUSHING, N.Y. - A hard-played 90-minute duel in Flushing wasn't enough for the Molloy College men’s soccer team on Saturday as it took Queens College into double overtime and lost, 1-0, on a Danny Stoker goal in the 103rd-minute of an East Coast Conference tilt. This marks the fifth time the Lions have fallen in overtime in 2011, and the eighth time that a defeat has been by a one-goal margin in a season of heartbreaks.

MEN’S SOCCER GOES DOWN TO MERRIMACK IN OVERTIME, 2-1
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – On Tuesday, a 75th-minute goal by junior forward Tyler De La Torre was enough to put the Molloy College men’s soccer squad into overtime for the fourth time this year, but it was too little to close the deal for the Lions, as they fell by a 2-1 score to Merrimack College at the Dean Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The loss marks the third time Molloy has fallen in overtime in 2011, and drops the Lions to 0-6-1 overall.

With the stalemate, the Lions now sport an overall record of 0-5-1 and an East Coast Conference clip of 0-0-1 on the season.

MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO CALDWELL IN OVERTIME HEARTBREAKER, 3-2
CALDWELL, N.J. – On Tuesday, the Molloy College men’s soccer team fell 3-2 in double overtime to Caldwell College in a non-conference battle at Caldwell Field in Caldwell, N.J. During the Lions’ first away contest of the year, they sported a slim 1-0 advantage in the 12th-minute on a tally by junior back Craig Calderone. However, Molloy had to tug it out for the remaining 78 minutes before entering overtime for the second time in just five games so far this year.

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.– On Friday, the Molloy College men’s soccer team lost by the score of 2-1 in non-conference action versus Dominican College at the Dean G. Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. All three of the game’s goals were scored in the first 41 minutes during a very physical match-up that resulted in four yellow cards.

Skelos Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. Warriors' sophomore midfielder Felix Horn took over on a loose ball in the box and put it past Lions' goalie Justin Corke for the game-winner in the 49th minute. With the loss, Molloy slips to 0-3, while Nyack improves to 3-0.

DEPARTMENT OF ATHLETICS TO TAKE PART IN OUTCASTS UNITED INITIATIVE
ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - For 2011-12, the Molloy College Department of Academic Affairs established an academic theme, entitled Building Community, based on the freshman-mandated novel, Outcasts United. The book focuses on a soccer-playing immigrant community in Clarkston, Ga. In an effort to help out the refugee team, the Department of Athletics will be joining the initiative by collecting used soccer items throughout the season. The men's and women's soccer squads began the engagement on Tuesday by assisting in Molloy's Community Day.

MEN'S SOCCER SLOTTED FIFTH IN ECC PRESEASON POLL
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. - On Thursday afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced its 2011 preseason tally for men's soccer, and Molloy College was ranked in fifth in the poll. The Lions, who earlier suffered a 3-2 season-opening loss to Holy Family University, raked up 27 points in the ledger. Dowling College is the early favorite to win their second ECC title in as many years, amassing 59 points and five first-place votes.

Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. As a result, the Lions have now lost two consecutive games to start the 2011 campaign, putting them at 0-2 overall.

Skelos Sports Complex in Rockville Centre, N.Y. The Lions drop to 0-1 on the year with the defeat, while the Tigers now boast an overall clip of 1-0.
